Considering the environment in the design phase

Even in the design phase we are thinking about the environment. Our technical team is constantly working to optimise all design proposals in order to minimise material consumption. One of our commitments is that in 2013 material consumption will be 30 % less compared to 2007.  Stacking height is another factor which directly impacts the environment.  The lower the stacking height, the more trays per pallet, and the lower the environmental impact of transport and storage.  Færch Plast actively participates in collaborating with our customers and their machinery suppliers to find the optimum solution for both production and the environment. This reduces the overall environmental impact of the packaging along its path out to the consumer. Design is also a factor in this. For example, we have designed trays with smaller portion sizes so that consumers do not have to dispose of surplus food.
